General Information

Overview

Course reserves are books that are shelved together in the library, ensuring that they are readily available for students in a specific class.  Below, we include information for seminarians who need to use course reserve materials, and for faculty who may wish to reserve library books for their courses.

You can look up which books are on reserve and request specific books HERE.

Info for Seminarians

Course reserve books can be found on the designated bookcases on the top floor of the library, near the circulation desk:

  • These books are grouped together by the course instructor's name.
  • These books can be checked out, but for overnight use only.
  • Otherwise, they should only be consulted in the library.
  • When you are finished consulting them, these books must be returned to the reserves shelves.  Do NOT leave them at your study carrels!

Info for Faculty

  • Faculty can designate any book from the collection, including reference books, for inclusion in course reserves.

  • The library needs the exact course name and number to modify the book records in the catalog.

  • Faculty should share course reserve lists with the library by at least one month before the start of the semester:
    • By July 20 for fall semester courses.
    • By December 20 for spring semester courses.
